Amazing Meal + Smoothies

I love smoothies. Love them. There are endless combinations of what you can do. The best part about smoothies, (to me) is the fact that they can taste so amazing but still be super healthy. One of my favorite things to put in a smoothie are bananas. Why? Well, we all know bananas are good for us, but I am just not a big fan of them. Maybe it's just me, but they make my teeth feel yucky and gritty. Now I sound crazy...didn't I just said they were my favorite? I did, because something happens to a banana when you blend it all up. I don't know what, but I like it. ;)

The smoothie that I have been recreating on almost a daily basis lately is this super refreshing Banana Avocado Smoothie. I'm not even going to pretend like I was creative enough to come up with this on my own. I found this recipe by Marcus Samuelsson.

Ingredients: 2 bananas, 1 avocado, zest from half a lime, orange juice, ginger, cardamom, honey, plain yogurt, vanilla ice cream, ice cubes. I don't use the ice cream, and I just squeeze juice from an orange.

So I had been drinking this smoothie for a little while and then a few weeks ago I won a giveaway from Jessica @ What Would Jessica Eat. Thank you Jessica!!! What did I win? Well what I THOUGHT I won was 15 serving packs of Amazing Meal by Amazing Grass. What they actually sent me? TWO 15 serving containers of Chocolate Amazing Meal, a cute drink cup, and 4 sample packs to try all the flavors. And boy is this stuff Awesome! I'm in love already. So this stuff taste fantastic and it's good for you! I'm hooked.

Organic, Raw, Soy Free, Dairy Free, Vegan, Gluten Free, Kosher

So what's in it? Here are some of the ingredients your body will thank you for:

Acai
Antioxidant fruit & Vegetable Blend
Digestive Enzyme & Active Culture Probiotic Blend
Goji Berries
Greens Blend
Hemp Protein
Maca
Organic Flax Seed Powder
Protein Blend
Wheat Grass

The smoothie I have been making now with the Chocolate flavor is:

2 bananas, 1 avocado, honey, bunch of ice cubes and 1.5 scoops of Chocolate Amazing Meal.
It is delicious and (because of the avocado) has the consistency of a chocolate milkshake.

I also tried the Vanilla Chai Flavor and I loved it too. The smoothie I made with it was:

1 banana, 1/2 cup canned coconut milk, honey and 1 single serving packet of Vanilla Amazing Meal.
I think I may actually like this flavor more...it's hard to say.

The only flavors I haven't tried yet is the original and the Pomegranate Mango. Let me know if you have any suggestions for that one!

What Kind of Smoothies do you love?
Do you use protein powder?

    1. Haha ;) I thought it sounded really weird at first but I just love it now. Although I will say I still enjoy just eating a plain avocado any day. One of my favorite foods for sure.

  3. I love mixing the fresh and frozen fruit I have on hand with some yogurt in the blender. I have only tried Click espresso powders. I have been wanting to try a vanilla flavor to put in my smoothies but I have no clue which ones to try.

  6. I don't like using protein powders or nutrient blends. I prefer smoothies with just fruit and vegetables, and sometimes nut butters. I do keep a high quality whey protein around in case of emergency, though (if I sleep in and don't have time to eat). This is the stuff. It's by Progressive Organics. It's okay. I don't have it often, but it's good in a pinch. I have the chocolate flavour.

My favourite smoothie ever is not a primal one :( It contains almond milk, frozen banana, a scoop of natural peanut butter, a dash of vanilla extract and a dash of ceylon cinnamon.

I nearly re-created it using Artisana raw almond butter instead of peanut butter. It's the only almond butter I like, but it's $11 for the smallest jar ever.

I think about peanut butter every. single. day. :O

But my second favourite smoothie is primal! Firstly, I blend a bunch of spinach with water and coconut milk. Once that's liquified, I throw in a frozen banana and frozen mango and blend more. The smoothie looks so fresh and green. It's a good way to get greens in if you're craving sweets :D

I'm so glad you're happy with the stuff. It does look healthy and yum :D

  7. I LOVE smoothies. Oh how I love them. Daily. ;)
I use Vega protein powder but Amazing Meal and Amazing Grass powders are delicious! (they're all just so expensive so I only get one at a time, ya know?)

I love your combos and with adding in the avocado (and honey)- and I believe you sent me a recipe before but I still haven't tried it! Time to get on this. :)
